Education Programs Manager

Treehouse has an opening for a full-time Education Programs Manager. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and some weekend hours. 

The Education Programs Manager will manage and administer the Treehouse Tutoring and College and Career Planning Programs with the goal of improving educational outcomes for foster youth.  This position will ensure services are culturally relevant, inclusive of families, and effectively utilize Treehouse partners to engage students in striving for academic excellence.  The Education Programs Manager will drive programmatic outcome evaluation efforts that lead to achievement of individual student and organizational goals.  This position will administer services that utilize best practice and impact measurement strategies that are innovative, challenging, and responsive to the educational needs of youth. 

The Education Programs Manager will be part of the agency’s Leadership Team and establish strategies for the effective management of the agency; supervision and coaching of education program professional staff; and continued program development and strategic planning.   Preferred experience in education program management, special education theory and practice and direct classroom instruction utilizing response to intervention techniques with high needs students.  

Hiring range is $60,000 - $63,000 full-time. Medical, dental, vision benefits offered.

POSITION OBJECTIVES

  • Effectively manage and administer a culturally relevant and creative education program which allows students to think creatively, excel academically, make healthy life choices and contribute to their communities through staff and volunteer delivered services, individual student and family-supportive activities and broad collaborations to improve overall educational outcomes for Treehouse eligible students. 
  • Drive Education Success Program outcome evaluation efforts to ensure programmatic goals lead to individual student achievement by utilizing best practice service and impact measurement strategies that are innovative, challenging and relevant. 
  • Lead the Education Success Program through internal and external collaborations and constituent partnerships that continuously enhance the quality of Treehouse education program services and produce strong educational outcomes for youth.

AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Program Leadership & Management

  • Plan, implement and administer the Education Success Program tutoring and college and career planning services to ensure consistency with organizational strategic plan, mission and budget.
  • Lead annual Education program planning with program staff and contribute to periodic strategic planning, establishing effective strategies and appropriate goals for client service and creating operational plans to ensure successful implementation.
  • Make recommendations to improve program policies and procedures that create consistency, cultural relativity responsiveness and that utilize best service strategies leading to success in students’ academic pursuit. 
  • Oversee consistent, accountable implementation of program procedures and maintain updated program procedures manual.
  • As an integral member of the Leadership Team, establish strategies for the effective management of the agency; contribute to agency decision-making, staff communication and other activities to support achievement of overall agency goals.
  • Supervise and coach staff to ensure development of appropriate professional goals and work plans, and establish individual and team performance expectations and objectives.
  • Coordinate, and when appropriate deliver, in-service training for Education Success staff.
  • Provide individual case-consultation when needed.
  • Establish a Coordinator team for Education Success, supervise individual Coordinators.
  • Oversee, in partnership with Programs Director and HR, the recruitment and interviewing, hiring and training of Education program staff.
  • Ensure smooth referral process of eligible students and crossover between programs.
  • Develop, implement and be accountable for program budgets.

Program Evaluation & Reporting

  • With Programs Director, refine Education program goals and objectives, measurement strategies and tools to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the Education program services.
  • Work directly with ETO Database Manager to prepare systems and procedures for accurate data collection, regular monitoring and quality assurance, timely reporting and quality assessment of program outputs and outcomes.
  • Facilitate on-going and regular feedback surveys from all program constituents including participating youth. 
  • Produce written program demographics, outputs and outcome reports as required.
  • Deliver required documentation and reports to meet all contract reporting expectations. 

Internal & External Collaborations

  • Ensure Education program resource needs are met by contributing to the smooth functioning of the organization, being aware of and communicating other department’s plans and activities to Education program staff and effectively integrating program plans with those of other departments.
  • Contribute to the recruitment of eligible youth served in targeted areas from out-of-home caregivers, social workers, school districts, and other agencies.
  • Utilize partner relationships to create and deliver quality, accessible and congruent educational services and enrichment opportunities across all Education programs.
  • Oversee the process of education program volunteer utilization and support. 

Other Duties

  • Maintain an exceptional level of customer service within the Education programs.
  • Attend all program, agency and external meetings as assigned. 
  • Serve as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

2009-2010 KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Ensure and track staff accountability and effectiveness in delivering education program interventions.
  • Improve the numbers of youth graduating from high school, transitioning to post-secondary, achieving required academic credits, and improving math and reading aptitudes.  
  • Increase number of students successfully reaching Treehouse identified educational benchmarks.
  • Write two evaluation reports annually to fulfill Seattle University partnership requirements.
  • Produce annual written Education Success Program evaluation report.
  • Hire Summer Learning program staff.
  • Produce annual written employee appraisals.
  • Convene the annual education program staff conference prior to school start.
  • Conceptualize and implement improved volunteer roles, responsibilities, training and support in all services.

Position Supervises:   Tutoring Program Coordinators, College and Career Planning Coordinators,  Education Success Administrative Coordinator

Position Reports To:  Programs Director

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in education, social work or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of education program development & management.
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 2 years demonstrated special education training, knowledge and applied experience.
  • Practical experience as a school educator.
  • Expertise with evaluation planning & outcome development, academic assessment and progress tracking.
  • Proven experience collaborating and coordinating services with school districts, community agencies, caregivers, volunteers and other constituents in a professional manner. 
  • Ability to successfully carry out complex assignments and adapt to changing situations and priorities. 
  • Exceptional written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of different ages, cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, abilities, etc.
  • Demonstrated aptitude with Word, Excel, and database management programs.
