Development Coordinator

Treehouse is seeking a full-time Development Coordinator.  The Development Coordinator is responsible for Treehouse donation drive strategy, supporting third party fundraising initiatives and implementing friend to friend fundraising tactics.  The ideal candidate will have one to three years’ experience working in fundraising for non-profit organizations, a demonstrated ability to plan and execute major projects, and exceptional public speaking skills.  Superior communication and customer service skills are required, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office.  Experience with Raiser’s Edge and/or Sphere/Kintera a plus.  Salary Range:  $35,000 - $39,000 per year. POSITION OBJECTIVES

  • Generate and support community involvement by engaging community members in donation drives, external initiatives, and volunteerism.
  • Increase support for Treehouse by meeting or exceeding budgeted revenue goals for donation drives and external initiatives.

AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Donation Drives

  • Manage all donation drive efforts: Holiday, Back-to-School and general donation drives.
  • Meet or exceed budgeted revenue goals and generate in-kind donations.
  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with corporate and community partners.
  • Proactively prospect and recruit new drive hosts.
  • Create and manage all collateral associated with the donation drive efforts.
  • Identify key objective or outcome of each communication, as well as audience and appropriate media.
  • Implement multiple donation drive recruitment strategies to secure drive participants including mailings, internet communication, email, media, phone and in-person presentations.
  • Use friends asking friends software to increase online donation support for drives.
  • Develop strategy and create annual plan for donation drives.

External Initiatives

  • Manage external initiatives and events that raise revenue and in-kind donations.
  • Analyze effectiveness of potential and completed external initiatives to determine return on investment for Treehouse.
  • Create all collateral associated with external initiatives and develop support materials as needed for individual events.
  • Use friends asking friends software to increase online donation support of drives.
  • Use friends asking friends software to support external initiatives.
  • Develop strategy and create annual plan for external initiatives.

Visibility

  • Promote Treehouse in the community.
  • Act a spokesperson for Treehouse and represent the organization at appropriate events.
  • Portray a positive message about Treehouse in all communications that emphasizes how individuals can get involved

Development

  • Participate in creating and achieving Development department goals and plans.
  • Accurately record and manage donor data in the Raiser’s Edge database.
  • Maintain an exceptional level of customer service for all Treehouse supporters.
  • Attend weekly Development meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

2009-2010 KEY DELIVERABLES

  • Raise $153,000 through Holiday, Back to School and general donation drives.
  • Raise $229,000 though External Initiatives.
  • Develop strategy for integrating SPHERE friends asking friends software into overall fundraising strategy for donation drives and external initiatives.
  • Proved support to repeat External Initiative event hosts to develop and maintain relationships.

Position Reports To:  Associate Director of Development

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in marketing, customer service, strategy development, and volunteer coordination.
  • Proven experience developing successful relationships with businesses, community organizations, and volunteers.
  • Two years successful experience in a comparable non-profit or volunteer organization.
  • Exceptional written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop work plans and manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of different ages, cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, abilities, etc.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office and experience with The Raiser’s Edge and SPHERE a plus.
